From 1st June, important changes came into force for electricity charges with the intention of moving towards a more sustainable energy consumption. The price of electricity will vary according to the time of day, based on the following time bands:
PUNTA (most expensive): 10:00 - 14:00pm / 18:00 - 22:00 LLANO (intermediate) 08:00 - 10:00 / 14:00 - 18:00 / 22:00 to 24:00
VALLE (cheapest) 24:00 to 8:00 & anytime weekends & fiestas
The new billing system affects consumers with a contracted power capacity of under 15kW – typically households and small businesses.
The main objective of the new changes in electricity tariffs are:
To encourage savings through more efficient use of electricity
Facilitate night-time recharging of electric vehicles
In order to take advantage of the cheapest rate, it is a good idea to plan ahead and try to use appliances like the washing machine and dishwasher during the cheapest time band, even programming them in advance if possible. If you use these appliances less often, aim for weekends when the tariff is cheaper.
We recommend that you check with your specific provider to see how they are adapting to the changes and how your contract will be affected.
