ALERT LEVEL 3 for Malaga

The Junta de Andalucía have announced this week that all six health districts of Malaga province will move to alert level 3, as a result of the increase in Covid-19 infections. This came into effect at midnight on Thursday 22nd July.

What does this mean for us?

  • bars and restaurants have a maximum capacity limit of 50% indoors

  • maximum of four people per table inside

  • maximum of six on the terraces

  • maximum capacity in stores and shopping centres will be restricted to 60%

  • maximum capacity in cinemas, theatres and auditoriums is reduced to 60%

The Junta de Andalucia have requested a night time curfew between 02:00 - 07:00 but the curfew will not come into effect automatically, it must be proposed by the territorial health alert committee for each province and approved by the Supreme Court of Andalucía (TSJA). The regional government is unable to impose regulations that restrict citizens' movement without a national state of alarm.

In any case, the Junta de Andalucía will consider taking variables other than just the incidence rate into account for tourist towns. Experts say that the influx of holiday visitors may not reflect, with certainty, the real health situation in the different localities.

Remember that 1.5m social distancing measures must always be complied with and masks must be worn when this distance cannot be maintained and always inside.
